Suspect Shoots Officer Before Committing Suicide
This shocking footage shows a police officer gets struck by gunfire during follow-up investigation of a traffic stop incident.
Officer Malik Daricaud, 25, reportedly suffered serious injuries after being ambushed by the suspect on Ridgeview Avenue in Jacksonville, in the US State of Florida on 26th March.
The officer is currently in "tenuous condition" and "fighting for his life," according to Sheriff T.K. Waters.
Daricaud and another officer had gone to the home of Tyliko Maduro, 32, to question him about a previous traffic incident in which he fled the scene.
Maduro's mother unlocked the front door, and the suspect opened fire with a semi-automatic rifle.
Maduro later died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound during a standoff with police.
Officer Daricaud, who is married with children, was awake and able to speak but remains in critical condition.
No other officers or Maduro's mother were injured in the incident.
