Session 1 - Why We Value Understanding the Biblical View of the End Times

In the first session of "End Times for Beginners," Mike Bickle from the International House of Prayer Kansas City (IHOPKC) discusses the importance of understanding the biblical view of the end times. He emphasizes that the IHOPKC leadership does not ask anyone to blindly accept their views but to be like the Bereans in Acts 17:11 and search the Scriptures for themselves.

Understanding the biblical view of the end times is crucial because it is a unique period with unprecedented pressures and an outpouring of the Holy Spirit. The Bible dedicates over 150 chapters to this generation, focusing on the events leading up to Jesus' return. Pastoral reasons for understanding the end times include the need to counter fear, offense, lust, and deception that may challenge people's faith.

God promises increased understanding of the end times, and the Lord will raise up "people of understanding" to help others grasp the biblical narrative (Dan. 11:33; 12:10). Jesus will return as a King, Bridegroom, and Judge, and the events surrounding His return will be part of the Lord's "justice master plan" for human history.

This plan includes positive and negative activities, ultimately leading to a purified Church, a great harvest of souls, Israel's national salvation, Satan being imprisoned, and the earth filled with God's glory. Justice will be a primary theme in both God's and Satan's kingdoms, and Jesus anchors His mandate to bring justice to the earth in night-and-day prayer (Lk. 18:7-8).

The "messenger calling" to prepare the way of the Lord (Isa. 40:3-5) is applicable at Jesus' first and second comings, and God is raising up messengers to help prepare people spiritually for His return. Understanding the biblical view of the end times is crucial for believers to navigate the unique challenges and opportunities of this generation.
