Putting a Dead Pope on Trial 💀 #shorts

Have you heard of the pope who put a dead pope’s body on trial?

Pope Stephen VI had the body of his predecessor Pope Formosus dug up and placed on a throne in papal clothing to stand trial for perjury.

He yelled rhetorical questions at the corpse for two hours in the mock trial before ultimately finding it guilty and throwing it into the Tibet River.

Suffice to say, people didn’t think these actions were very befitting of a pope so they stripped Pope Stephen of his title and put him in jail shortly following the incident.

Talk about leaving behind an interesting legacy.
