Here are the steps to deactivate Facebook Messenger app:

Open the Messenger app on your mobile device.
Tap on your profile picture located in the top-left corner of the screen.
Scroll down and select "Legal & Policies."
Tap on "Deactivate Messenger" at the bottom of the screen.
Read the information provided about deactivating Messenger and tap "Deactivate."
Confirm your decision to deactivate by tapping "Deactivate" again.
Once you have deactivated Messenger, you will no longer be able to send or receive messages. However, you will still be able to use other Facebook features, such as the main Facebook app. If you wish to reactivate Messenger, simply log back into your account, and your messages will be restored.
