Three Key Points of Chapter 18

1) The betrayal and arrest of Jesus: In this chapter, Judas leads a group of soldiers and officials to arrest Jesus in the garden of Gethsemane. Jesus is taken into custody and brought before the high priest Caiaphas for questioning.

2) Peter's denial of Jesus: As Jesus is being interrogated, Peter denies knowing him three times. This fulfills Jesus' earlier prediction that Peter would deny him.

3) Jesus' trial before Pilate: The religious leaders bring Jesus before Pilate, the Roman governor, to be sentenced to death. Pilate questions Jesus about his identity and innocence, but ultimately gives in to the demands of the crowd and orders Jesus to be crucified. This sets the stage for Jesus' crucifixion and death in the following chapters.
