To improve your close range fights follow some of my tips:

Train yourself well with every gun that you get in TDM.
Don't camp while playing TDM as you are playing it to improve your gameplay.
Try to utilize every possible cover near you as it is not easy to kill a player in an open area because opponent is also skilled player.
The most important thing is your aim. Always aim on the head of enemy. Whenever you shoot it should be on the head of enemy.
Use headphones to hear footsteps of enemy (don't look for the footsteps in the map and listen the footsteps and judge the position of enemy).
Another important thing is prefire . Hear the footsteps and start fire earlier when enemy reaches close to you.
You can try different thins like jiggle , crouch and shoot as well as drop shots to surprise you enemy.
