Make a Solid Aluminum Easter Egg from Dollar Tree Craft Eggs (Aluminum Casting)

Today I will show you how to make a solid aluminum easter egg. I guess this is a good dollar tree diy... I went to the dollar tree for easter candy and saw they had Styrofoam easter eggs used for crafts. Well, I like Styrofoam and I like easter eggs. At first I was going to coat these easter eggs with plaster and make them using the lost foam casting method. However, I wanted to try something different. In this video you will see that I used foundry greensand and burred the easter egg out of the sand with a torch. Doing so leaves an empty cavity for me to pour the molten aluminum. I think they turned out great! Even if the easter eggs had a little shrinkage.
