Before he campaigned to run for President of America in 2015.

Waka Flocka Flame got the nickname after the muppets character Fozzie Bear’s catch phrase “Waka Waka” the Flocka Flame was given to him by Gucci Mane, a mentor that would later turn into a bitter rivalry. Waka lost a younger brother in a car accident and later another brother allegedly to suidide. Although Waka has family in the bizz, he initially only viewed rap as something to do for fun until he realized he had some talent. Talent that would get him in trouble cause the dude got shot twice.

Waka Flocka Flame was born Juaquin Malphurs on May 31, 1986 in Queens, New York in the South Jamaica neighbourhood.

His mother, Debra Antney is the CEO of an artist management group known as Mizay Entertainment. Her work required the family to relocate and Waka, his four brothers and three adopted sisters all packed up and moved. Not much is known about Waka’s father, his mother a strong woman chose never to marry.
