Le texte de cet hymne a été écrit par Civilla Durfee Martin (1866-1948) un dimanche après-midi de 1904. La musique a été composée ce soir-là par son mari, Walter Stillman Martin (1862-1935), pasteur baptiste.
Les Martin ont composé l'hymne alors qu'ils passaient plusieurs semaines en tant qu'invités à l'école de formation biblique pratique de Lestershire, dans l'État de New York. M. Martin aidait le président de l'école, John A. Davis, à préparer un recueil de chants intitulé "Songs of Redemption and Praise" (1905). "God Will Take Care Of You" a été publié pour la première fois dans ce recueil.

The text of this hymn was written by Civilla Durfee Martin (1866-1948) on a Sunday afternoon in 1904. The music was composed that evening by her husband, Walter Stillman Martin (1862-1935), a Baptist minister.
The Martins composed the hymn while spending several weeks as guests at the Practical Bible Training School at Lestershire, New York. Mr. Martin was helping the president of the school, John A. Davis, prepare a songbook titled "Songs of Redemption and Praise" (1905). "God Will Take Care Of You" was first published in that songbook.
