From The Worst leaders To The Best Leaders.

I’m Ryan Wiersma and I worked in oil patch for 10 years. One of my things I love to do is profile the different people I work with. And threw all the years of experience working with so many different types of people I could categorize for different types of leadership styles.

The first style is the narcissistic leader , and basically what he is, is a very selfish person that when things are going well, he’ll take all the credit. Explain how it was only him for the success. However, when things go bad, he blames everyone around him and throws people under the bus. His style of leader ship is poison because it brings down morale, and he tears people down to make himself feel better.

The next leader is the one of directionless Ness and basically he’s a guy that has a lot of experience been with the company a long time but he’s just not a leader. He doesn’t give a good direction. He doesn’t give any direction at all and he doesn’t reprimand bad behavior. He is a good hand, but shouldn’t be in that position.

Now onto the good leaders

The leader of authority , he uses chain of command. He gives clear, decisive direction in that direction is passed on to a chain of command. Working with leaders like this you always know what you need to accomplish. And you get rewarded for hard work.

But my personal favourite is the leader that leads from the front. He’s a rare leader, but he gets the best out of people. It doesn’t matter if it’s three in the afternoon or three in the morning he’ll be there where did underneath the rig doing what you can to help win. And what this does is a set a standard for everyone else to be the best they can be.
