Why is Trump talking about parents not loving their kids?

In one of the many videos that Donald Trump has produced for his 2024 campaign ,he took an unexpected detour.
After discussing his efforts to end the estate tax, Trump continued ,"But if you don't love your children so much , and there are some they don't -and maybe deservedly so-it won't matter . Because frankly ,you don't have to leave anything."
On the surface , Trump is making a joke that doesn't land.But it gets at something deeper : Trump understands,if only intuitively ,how much anxiety his base feels about younger American, who are far more likely to vote for democrats.
