In this video, Chicago trip and fall attorney Scott DeSalvo talks about a very common kind of injury case: trip and falls. These happen year 'round, but especially in winter, where snow or ice might obsure a hole or tripping hazard. Or any time you might be walking in a dark environment or where you might be distracted.

Here are the three things to look for:

First, has the problem existed for a while? The longer a problem exists, the worse it is for the landlord who didn't address a known problem.

Second, did the dangerous condition, hole or defect on the property create an issue for anyone else, or had it been reported to the property owner or manager before you had your slip and fall or trip and fall? Or did the property owner or manager CREATE the problem?

Third, do you have photos of the problem that caused you to fall? This helps a lawyer evaluate your case, and shows a Jury just what we are talking about, and how dangerous it can be for passersby and peope who are minding their own business and are just walking normally.

If you have all three of these things, you may have a very good 'premises liability' fall down case. Either way, you should probably talk to a lawyer who does fall down cases.
