Christianity has concluded that Jesus came into the world to be a sacrificial offering for the sins of mankind. One of the most difficult questions we must contend with is the fact that Jehovah abhorred human sacrifice. And spoke against this very concept. Today we attribute the story of Abraham taking the promised child Isaac up on the mountain as Jehovah commanded to sacrifice him on an altar. Of course, we know how this narrative ended. Jehovah sent a messenger and stopped Abraham and provided an animal for the offering.
