Renaissance Festival or Medieval Reenactment (SCA): What is the Difference?

What is the difference between a Renaissance Festival or an event held by the Society for Creative Anachronism (or other medieval reenactment event)?

If you have heard of either a Renaissance Festival and/or a medieval reenactment event, but don't know necessarily know the difference between them, then this video will help to explain the differences for you.

A Renaissance Festival is typically a 16th century European recreated town with paid performers providing entertainment and pageantry, with spectators paying an entry fee to watch the festivities. Renaissance Festivals only happen for a set time at a set location per year.

The Society for Creative Anachronism (also known as the SCA) is an international, non-profit educational organization that studies and recreates the medieval and Renaissance eras (pre-17th century). The SCA has many different events in different locations throughout the year.
