Thabo Bester escaped from custody at the Mangaung Correctional facility in May last year, following a fire in his single cell. Officials had issued a statement confirming that the man, dubbed the “Facebook rapist”, had perished in the blaze. Bester and his accomplice, Dr Nandipha Magudumana arrived in South Africa in the wee hours of Thursday morning and were taken into custody amid a heavy security guard. A plane carrying the duo landed at Lanseria airport in Gauteng this morning, and the couple were quickly whisked away in separate vehicles. Members of Parliament (MPs) have welcomed the arrest of Thabo Bester and Dr Nandipha Magudamana, with the latter appearing in the Bloemfontein court on Thursday. Caption: The girlfriend of prison escapee Thabo Bester, Dr Nandipha Magudumana and a second accused Teboho James Lipholo, a CCTV operator appeared briefly in the Bloemfontein Magistrate court for their part in the whole Thabo Bester escape saga. She was arrested along with Bester in Tanzania last Friday following their run for a few weeks. Two other suspects including Dr Magudumana's father appeared in the same court on 11 April 2023. The two cases has now been joined and will resume with the 4 suspects on 17 April 2023 in Bloemfontein.
