2002 Thyssenkrupp VR Hydraulic Elevators at ASU Living Learning Center Resident Hall (Boone NC)

Welcome to Appalachian State University, a college that is a huge ass city and generally impossible to film every elevator here without coming back multiple times. I got a total of 11 elevators during my visit in August while helping a friend move into their dorm. This particular area is the Living Learning Center, also known as the Watauga Residential College, which is apart of ASU!

We have some super early TK Elevators here from 2002. They have Dover VR Fixtures inside, which features the Dover VR Indicator instead of the typical TKE one. Not only does it have the Dover VR Indicator, these have Dover VR Lanterns with MECHANICAL BELLS! Finding a TK that uses Dover Mechanical Bells is EXTREMELY RARE!

Despite how nice and rare everything is, these cabs are a little beaten up. First one rides fine, but the emergency light is damaged. The 2nd one has a working Dover Buzz and goes one floor higher, but is rough stopping on the way down. These do get used as a service in a way since this is a residence hall. Overall despite them being a bit beaten up, these are nice surprises and the best newer elevators on campus IMO!

These were the last elevators I was able to get. I went back for Part 2 a month later, so stay tune for more in June 2023!
