ON TODAYS Show #915 right after the @nbcnews at the top of the 8am PT hour, a public service interview for Parkinson’s Awareness Month, with John L. Lehr, president and CEO of the non-profit Parkinson’s Foundation, and a Vikas Chinnan, a person living with early Young-Onset Parkinson’s disease.

This interview will provide the critical reminder that each year 90,000 people are newly diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease, provide insight on early signs to look out for, and information on the Foundation’s FREE resources that support people with PD and their care partners, including a Newly Diagnosed kit.

John L. Lehr leads the Parkinson's Foundation as president and chief executive officer. He has nearly three decades of nonprofit fundraising and management experience, with a strong focus in the voluntary healthcare and medical research sectors.The Foundation has earned a 4-star rating from Charity Navigator, a Platinum Seal of Transparency from GuideStar, and to be named to the 2020 list of Best Places to Work by The NonProfit Times.

Chinnan has spent most of his career in the automotive industry focused on operations, product management, product strategy, and marketing, and most recently held a position as an Operations Executive at a Bay Area startup. Since being diagnosed with PD in 2022, he has shifted his focus to PD advocacy and awareness. He is interested in expanding access to resources for populations currently underserved in the PD community and ensuring that employers are best equipped to support their employees impacted by PD. He lives in San Carlos, CA, with his wife, Preeti, and his sons, Bailey and Sammy.
