Questions to Identify Your Strengths

It's common for people to readily list their flaws and weaknesses, but struggle when asked to identify their strengths. This is why helping clients recognize their strengths can be a valuable service. Imagine if individuals leveraged their strengths in all aspects of their lives - this is where we come in. To facilitate this process, here are ten essential questions to help clients identify their strengths:

1. What are three of your greatest strengths?
2. What were some of the biggest challenges you've faced, and how did you overcome them?
3. What do you appreciate about yourself? (You can also ask yourself, "What do I appreciate about my client?")
4. What activities do you enjoy doing? (We tend to enjoy what we're good at!)
5. What do you yearn to do? (Yearnings suggest a deep desire, and can offer insight into strengths that may not be immediately apparent.)
6. What tasks or projects have you excelled in, and why?
