Japanese media claims a 'pipe-like object', which appeared to be a smoke bomb, was thrown at him.

Mr. Kishida was evacuated unharmed at a campaign event in Wakayama where he was expected to give a speech, local media have reported.

A young man who is believed to be the suspect was arrested on Saturday and police are now investigating details, NHK has confirmed.
