Orthodox Christians celebrate the biggest church holiday – Easter or the Resurrection of the Lord (Biblical Greek: ἀνάστασις τοῦ Ἰησοῦ).
Jesus Christ rose from the dead, which marked the salvation of all mankind.

The first to come to the tomb of Jesus and discover his resurrection was Mary Magdalene, who informed the apostles Peter and John about this. Christ appeared to his disciples after the resurrection for another forty days, until he ascended to heaven, blessing the apostles. That is why the church celebrates Easter for 40 days.
