"The Spirit of Babylon" Revelation Part 18 - GTC CoMo 4-15-23

As we continue to study the Book of Revelation, we need to understand the spirit of Babylon that is mentioned there. When looking at the entirety of the scriptures, we see the spirit of Babylon as a throughline -- a rebellious spirit that opposes God.

Revelation 18:4-5 “Come out (exerchomai) of her, my people (laos), so that you will not share (synkoinoneo) in her sins, so that you will not receive any of her plagues; 5 for her sins are piled up to heaven, and God has remembered her crimes.” (NIV)

Spirit of Babylon:
B -- Basis for all evil spirits and false religions
A -- Attacks God’s people
B -- Based on counterfeit and deception
Y -- Yearns for power and control over all people
L -- Lacks value for mankind
O -- Opposes God’s Word and Law
N -- Never Gives God Glory

Combating the Spirit of Babylon:
-- Spend time in Prayer.
-- Study God’s word.
-- Surrender to God, not the world.
-- Spending time in Koinonia.
