Chandler police shoot suspect with rifle

A 911 call about a hooded and masked male carrying a hammer at a house on East Folley Place near South Newman Way in Chandler, Arizona, came in from the homeowner who was watching remotely, according to police. A pair of officers and a detective arrived at the home, finding the suspect in the backyard "armed" with a "rifle," police said.
Bodycam video from two police officers and home surveillance showed armed law enforcement ordering Smestad to drop the weapon, which the man held with his left hand and kept lowered beside his left leg.
