🐦 Hummingbirds have to eat every 15 minutes to make up for the energy it takes to never touch the ground. They sleep on tree branches by going into a coma like state by slowing the hearts from 400-1200 beats per minute to just 40. This leaves them very vulnerable at night because they can’t quickly wake up if there’s a predator. These guys have been drinking for two hours. Their sole diet is nectar from flowers and small flying insects for protein. Bees are their mortal enemy. Bees can’t see red so hummingbirds like red flowers. No competition. I put one cup of sugar to 4 cups of spring water. That’s it. They live in these mountains from April until November
