How to Make a Pair of Stunning Cherry Hardwood Barley Twist Desks Pt4

In this video, I'll be finishing the build of two beautiful cherry wood barley twist desks. In the previous videos, I showed you how to create the intricate barley twist legs using a Legacy Ornamental Mill and assemble the frame. Now, we'll be completing the desks with handmade drawers, a custom drawer frame, and a protective coat of polyurethane.

First, I'll take you through the process of building the drawers. We'll be using splines for added durability and aesthetic appeal.

Next, we'll move on to creating the custom drawer frame. I'll show you how to measure and cut the frame to the correct size, and how to attach it securely to the desk using mortise and tenon joints.

Finally, we'll add a coat of polyurethane to protect the desk and bring out its natural beauty. I'll discuss some of the different finishes available, and why I've chosen to use polyurethane for this particular project. I'll show you how to apply the finish evenly, and offer tips for avoiding common mistakes.

Throughout the video, I'll offer advice for making your own customizations to the project, and how to ensure that your finished desks are both functional and aesthetically pleasing. By the end of the video, you'll have a beautiful pair of cherry wood barley twist desks that will be the envy of all your friends and family!
