Fast-forward over 2000 years to 1526, when Babur's victory over Sultan Ibrahim Lodi led to the establishment of the Mughal Empire in India. Babur, a descendant of Genghis Khan and Tamerlane, was the first Mughal Emperor and his reign saw the construction of some of India's most iconic landmarks, including the Taj Mahal.
Moving on to 1792, we come to the brutal execution of Brazilian revolutionary Tiradentes. He was hanged, drawn, and quartered in Rio de Janeiro for his role in a failed revolution against Portuguese rule. Despite his death, Tiradentes' legacy lives on as a symbol of Brazilian independence and the fight against injustice.
Turning to the lighter side of history, in 1878, New York installed its first firehouse pole. This innovation revolutionized the way that firefighters responded to emergencies and became a standard feature in firehouses across the world.
Finally, in 1918, the world lost one of its most famous pilots, Baron Manfred von Richthofen, also known as "The Red Baron." He was shot down and killed during World War I, bringing an end to his legendary reign as a fighter pilot.
