#DanielStraus Felt He Won at #BKFC38 and Called Overtime Round “Trash”

Daniel Straus fell short to Dat Nguyen via unanimous decision in an overtime round at BKFC 38. Straus admittedly thought he won the main event fight and felt it was “trash” having to go to a sixth round.

Straus felt he cut up Nguyen, blackened his eye, and also cited a knockdown that the ref didn’t officially call early in the bout. The biggest obstacle in that fight was ultimately himself as Straus described being injured and tearing his calf in the first frame of the fight.

Straus has been a multi-time Bellator featherweight world champion and grinded as a wrestler as a youth before his transition into mixed martial arts. The multi-sport combat veteran embarked on his bare-knuckle boxing debut with this outing.

Straus has fought some of the very best and continues that into a new combat sport as he fought the former BKFC bantamweight champ and BKFC lightweight title challenger, Dat Nguyen. The comfort in the clinch was evident for Straus but he interpreted that more as his opponent lacking in that aspect of the game.

This was evidenced when Straus stated, “No, Dat (Nguyen) just sucks. I didn’t train anything in the clinch this whole time. So, not that I shouldn’t have, I shouldn’t be saying that. But, you know, I just am good at what I’m doing, you know what I mean?”

“He just; He didn’t bring what he said he was going to bring, you know what I mean? With that being said, that’s why I think, you know, in the clinch, I can move as well as I can and do whatever I want in there because that is my world. This whole thing is my world.”

According to Straus, there were not many competitive differences to him other than the lack of gloves. It’s all fighting to him and it’s all the same to Straus at the end of the day. Daniel Straus enjoyed the initial BKFC experience and says he will keep pushing forward until the next one
