5th-GENERATION LOCAL BANKER: Sounds Alarm on CBDCs and Shares Benefits of Banking Small — Ep. 167

As we move into the local community, it made sense for us to seek out a local bank to transition some of our accounts. One thing we didn't realize at onset was how vital local banks are to not only local people and communities—but also for helping fund small and medium size enterprises (SMEs) in the United States—which is the economic engine for the majority of Americans and the backbone of GDP in America.

In this video, we talk with 5th generation local banker, Robert Fisher, President and CEO of Tioga State Bank in Tioga County, New York. Bob shares his precious family history, which spans back eight generations, including the founding of the community's first bank back in 1884 by his great-great grandfather, M.D. Fisher. Additionally, we discuss the role local banks have in the community; how they differ from multinational banks and credit unions, for example; and a warning on the move towards a centralized bank digital currency (CBDC).
