Speaker McCarthy: Let's Win Against China

For years, we’ve been locked in a competition against China.

We’re competing, seeing who can be faster and stronger.

The problem is it’s an unfair fight.

Think of it like a swim meet.

We used to blow the competition out of the water.

But now, we’re swimming with weights attached to us, and it’s slowing us down, and giving China a chance to catch up.

The weight holding us back is our debt.

It’s dragging us down and giving the Chinese Communist Party – one of the largest owners of our debt - a competitive advantage, which they will use to surpass us as we drown in the deep end.

Here’s my suggestion:

Let’s stop swimming with so much extra weight.

If we don't act now to rein in our spending and national debt in a responsible way, we'll never recover.

America will always win in a fair fight.

So let's make it fair.

Let's win.
