Anniversary of the April 25 Appeal

Today marks the anniversary of Falun Gong practitioners' historic appeal in Beijing.

This massive, yet incredibly peaceful demonstration of Chinese liberties called for the right to freely publish Falun Gong books, the release of 45 practitioners arrested in Tianjin, and for a free and open environment to practice Falun Gong without interference from the government.

State-run media portrayed the event as a "violent siege" of the government compound and used it to justify a brutal crackdown on the practice.
