Blindness vs. Blind Spots
Spiritual Blindness – someone who is not able to see that Jesus is the Savior, Messiah, and Son of God
Spiritual Blind Spot – (Webster's Dictionary)
1. a portion of a field that cannot be seen or inspected with available equipment
2: an area in which one fails to exercise judgment or discrimination
So, how do we know the areas of our lives where there are "blind spots"?
What causes blindspots?
1. generational issues or curses (alcohol: I'm not an alcoholic)
2. area of life where there is sin (someone is having an affair they will not see the destruction it may bring to their family or themselves or the other person's family)
3. area of life where someone else sinned against us
4. area of life where there is a need for inner healing or deliverance (like from lies we believe or past wounds which are not healed)
How to KNOW where your BLINDSPOTS are:
1. look at the fruit
If there is a pattern in your life that is negative or a struggle, it could be a blindspot
2. examine yourself and be honest if you have
3. examine your life and look for patterns of others sinning against you
4. ask a few close, wise, mature Christian friends if they see anything
5. ask God
2 Corinthians 4:3-4 ESV
And even if our gospel is veiled, it is veiled only to those who are perishing. In their case the god of this world has blinded the minds of the unbelievers, to keep them from seeing the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God.
Romans 8:7-8 ESV
For the mind that is set on the flesh is hostile to God, for it does not submit to God's law; indeed, it cannot. Those who are in the flesh cannot please God.
John 9:35-41 NIV
Spiritual Blindness
35 Jesus heard that they had thrown him out, and when he found him, he said, “Do you believe in the Son of Man?”
36 “Who is he, sir?” the man asked. “Tell me so that I may believe in him.”
37 Jesus said, “You have now seen him; in fact, he is the one speaking with you.”
38 Then the man said, “Lord, I believe,” and he worshiped him.
39 Jesus said,“For judgment I have come into this world, so that the blind will see and those who see will become blind.”
40 Some Pharisees who were with him heard him say this and asked, “What? Are we blind too?”
41 Jesus said, “If you were blind, you would not be guilty of sin; but now that you claim you can see, your guilt remains.
