A Habit of Reading

The personality traits required to read are hard to come by nowadays, in ourselves and in others. It takes work to get reading into your life, and work to keep it there -- like anything worthwhile.

If we consider how easily distracted we are in this world of screen-time, maybe we can approach the habit of reading with the gravity it requires; it will take us away from anything "more entertaining/productive" we could be doing.

Reading has always been hard: from the difficulty of learning to read, to the concentration and peace of mind that it requires in an age of overstimulation.
