On the same day as their canyon assault, the Calderon Protectorate unleashed a lightning-fast raid on the research and science center of Kingstown.

Their goal: to kidnap the high-profile metallurgist Hans Jorgenfeld Jr., the brains behind an alleged new breed of armor that could tip the scales of the Protectorate's development.

With no time to redeploy, and limited resources on world, the Armed Forces of the Federated Suns must relay on the ragtag and underequipped Kingstown Militia to fend off the battle-hardened MechWarriors of the periphery…
