Here is a quick video that displays a radio that is more suitable for pedestrian or bicycle mobile use. I like this radio because it allows you to recieve from 0.5-900 MHz even though it can only transmit in the 2m and 70cm bands. Very useful for SHTF event in that you can listen for communications of law enforcement and the like.
