"The (UN) takes pleasure in suppressing them (reports of sexual violence), denying them or trying to manipulate the numbers to downplay the problem," says former UN investigator Peter Gallo. "Of the 528 previously reported cases (of sexual assault), 203 were associated with either rape or sexual assault in the past five years."

"And the answer was only 52, which basically means that even if a UN worker is investigated for a criminal offence, a sex offense, they have only a one in four chance that they will ever go to the national criminal investigation authorities investigation will be handed over.”
