Nichijou 日常 - Mai's Manga

元気な相生祐子、明るく元気な長野原澪、無口で無愛想な水上麻衣、心配性のアンドロイド・東雲ナノ、その若きクリエイター・教授、しゃべる黒猫・坂本を中心に、時雨町に住む様々な人々の日常を描く[4]群像劇です。各キャラクターが経験する日常的な状況を中心に、突拍子もない出来事が定期的に起こる。

アニメシリーズでは、ナノが全キャラクターの中で最も目立つストーリーアークを担っている。『Nichijou』の前半では、高校で学生になることを望み、後半では、学校でのロボットであることがバレることへの恐怖を描いている。また、各エピソードには、本編とはほとんど関係のないビネットが配置されており、その中には、荒井の別の漫画『Helvetica Standard』から転用されたものもある。
Nichijou follows the everyday lives of various people in the town of Tokisadame,[4] centering on the energetic Yūko Aioi, the bright and cheerful Mio Naganohara, the quiet and deadpan Mai Minakami, the anxious android Nano Shinonome, her young creator the Professor, and a talking black cat named Sakamoto, along with an ensemble cast of characters. Random, outlandish events regularly occur throughout the series, mainly through the mundane situations each character goes through.

In the anime series, Nano receives the most prominent story arc out of all the characters; the first half of Nichijou involves her desire to become a student in high school, while the second half deals with her fear of being exposed as a robot while at school. Vignettes which are mostly unrelated to the main focus of the series are placed throughout each episode, some of them adapted from Helvetica Standard, another manga by Arawi.
