Selwyn Duke: We must defend Western Civilization!

"Where would we be without Western Civilization?" asks Selwyn Duke in his recent cover story for The New American magazine. The answer, he tells Paul Dragu, host of The New American TV, is that we would be living in a state of perpetual degradation, fear, poverty and tyranny.

This, in fact, has been the state of humanity for most of its existence, and the depredations that historically afflicted the vast majority of people who have ever lived were only abolished by the triumphs of the west. These include the establishment of the rule of law and the legal and moral recognition of unalienable natural rights to life, liberty and the "Pursuit of Happiness."

The achievements of Western Civilization also include the Industrial Revolution and the incredible increase in the standard of living it brought to the world, the revolution in agricultural chemistry that produced and continues to produce an unprecedented abundance of food, the very scientific method that forms the intellectual foundation of these achievements and much more besides.

Should we now apologize for Western accomplishment, and be embarrassed about these achievements as modern grievance-based "woke" Marxism demands? Surely not.

Overthrowing Western Civilization, now popularly demanded by the progressive throng and represented by the gerontocracy in the White House would lead to multifaceted catastrophe.
