Hazrat Yunus (A.S) is a prophet of Islam, mentioned in the Quran. He is also considered a prophet in Christianity and Judaism. He is best known for being swallowed by a large fish or whale, and then being spit out alive. According to Islamic tradition, he was sent as a prophet to the people of Nineveh, but they refused to listen to him, and so he became angry and left the city. He was later punished by being swallowed by the fish, but he repented and called out to God for forgiveness, and was subsequently released. He is also known for his call to repentance and for the miracle of the fish (or whale) as a sign of God's power.
