And to begin my complaint former President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva was convicted in two criminal cases. In the case known as "Triplex do Guarujá", Lula was convicted in the first instance in July 2017 by judge Sérgio Moro, of the 13th Federal Court of Curitiba. The conviction was later confirmed by the Federal Regional Court of the 4th Region (TRF-4) in January 2018. In April 2018, the Superior Court of Justice (STJ) reduced Lula’s sentence, but maintained the conviction for passive corruption and money laundering.

In addition, Lula was also convicted in the process known as "Sítio de Atibaia". In February 2019, the former president was convicted in the first instance of passive corruption and money laundering by Judge Gabriela Hardt, of the 13th Federal Court of Curitiba, in relation to the reforms carried out on the site in Atibaia, interior of São Paulo. This conviction was also confirmed by the TRF-4 in November 2019.

It is important to emphasize that the case of the "Triplex do Guarujá" was annulled by the Supreme Court (STF) in March 2021, and the process of the "Sítio de Atibaia" is still underway in higher courts, subject to possible reviews and appeals. Therefore, it is necessary to check whether there were further developments from my cut-off date.
