The story of David and Bathsheba in 2 Samuel 11-12 reveals the above. God says "But now thy kingdom shall not continue: the Lord hath sought him a man after his own heart, and the Lord hath commanded him to be captain over his people" in 1 Samuel 13:14, and that designation for David is confirmed in Acts 13:22.

Temptation itself is not sin, but giving into it is a DECISION that is sin. Pastor Steve preaches 2 Samuel 12 and Isaiah 6 about the consequences. Only the Blood of Jesus can make us presentable to God on our day of judgement.
