Shawnee State Forest 53 Mile Ultramarathon

The Shawnee 50 Mile Trail Run, 53 miles of the most brutal and technical terrain Ohio has to offer, with over 11,000 ft. of vertical gain, you would not know this was Ohio...felt more like the Pennsylvania mountains.

It was the best run of my career, and I reached all my goals: sub 7 hrs for 50 kilometers and sub 12 hrs for 50 miles. Finished 5th in my age group, 40-49, which I was the oldest of, and 12 th overall in a field of 49. Other than a few of my FKT’s, this was the most rewarding experience and accomplished feelings I’ve ever felt after a physically challenging event. Thanks to Michael Owen and SEOTR for putting on a great race! My wife and my dog Tassie were there to celebrate with me!
