Share. Subscribe. The Moon is 1,550-1,600 miles away from Earth on its' circuit. The Sun is 1,651.29 miles above Earth. This is KNOWN (and have been known for several hundreds of years) by using: Basic Arithmetic and Basic Trigonometry's: " Angle of Elevation ". Polaris "the north star" (in FACT-- the central north star, because the Earth is FACT a very large flat or planar surfaced system) is 6,589 miles above Earth. This is KNOWN by using Basic Celestial Navigation and Basic Trig's " Angle of Elevation ".
