LONASS-K successfully launched

This is a modification to its predecessor GLONASS-M and GLONASS, Russia's navigation system that runs alongside GPS. And on its own if GPS is ever turned off.

GLONASS-K satellite is made entirely from locally sourced parts, and will be in service for the next decade.

Space boss said Russia could be turned off from GPS - Rogozin, Roscosmos.
