This is one of Satan's most clever tricks. Although we may rarely initiate an offense, when someone offends us, we may react very poorly with anger, revenge, or gossip. Our sinful reaction becomes just as bad as the attack of the offender. I must confess that I have fallen for this trick of the enemy many times. It is a true test of Christ-like character. How would Jesus react? Jesus said, "I tell you not to resist an evil person. But whoever slaps you on your right cheek, turn the other to him also" Matthew 5:39. We need to submit to the Holy Spirit at all times and allow the "fruit of the Spirit" Galatians 5:23, to rule and reign in our life. That will be the greatest witness to the unsaved people who are carefully observing our life. They will be won by our Christ-like character when under attack.
