The God Who Does Exactly What He Says He Will Do | AS BOLD AS LIONS DEVOTIONAL | May 22, 2023

Say therefore to the people of Israel, “I am the LORD, and I will bring you out from under the burdens of the Egyptians, and I will deliver you from slavery to them, and I will redeem you with an outstretched arm and with great acts of judgment. I will take you to be my people, and I will be your God.” Exodus 6:6,7

The story of Moses’ call from God is a remarkable display of trust, obedience, and faith despite not seeing all the details. Certainly, God is patient with Moses. From the burning bush experience to the moment Israel crosses the Red Sea, Moses has to display a trust beyond anything he’s ever known. But God affirms and reaffirms Who He is and what He is about: He is the God of Moses’ ancestors. He is the God Who promised to give His people a land of their own. And He will deliver them out of their bondage and slavery.

The picture of Israel’s exodus is really a beautiful foreshadow of the coming of the Messiah. God had a plan in mind all the way back to the beginning; to the moment Adam and Eve first sinned. His plan was to deliver humanity as a whole out of bondage; a spiritual enslavement not unlike the physical enslavement Israel faced in Egypt. The God of the Bible is true to His word from Genesis to Revelation and every promise and everything He says He will do, He has done…or will do. We can face today with confidence when we understand the same God of Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, and Moses is the God we serve. He will do exactly what He says and we can trust Him.

Question for today: What holds me back from fully and completely trusting God over a certain area in my life right now?

Pray: Lord I ask for confidence today to know that You stay true to Your word and I can always trust You.
