What Is Enlightenment?

Enlightenment is one beautiful concept that if you are God, then you have the opportunity to be freed forever from your guilt, your shame, your lack, your insecurity, your brutality, your victimization, your tyranny.

Enlightenment comes when we shock our personality by hearing the words from a teacher who says, “You are God. You need no intermediary. It lives within you.” And the moment your personality hears that, it is going to do one of two things. It is going to be humbled by what it hears or it is going to be angry at what it hears, because the concept that you are God utterly destroys the basis for your own personal victimization and tyranny and undermines the whole reason that you keep up an emotional life that is wearing out your health.

Enlightenment is knowing that you are God, that God is within you, and is in the person next to you. It hears and knows and supports every small-minded decision you make. And if you decide in one bright moment that you are going to be a brilliant mind, it will say, “So be it.”
