RESIDENT EVIL 4 HD PROJECT GAMEPLAY

Resident Evil 4, known in Japan as Biohazard 4 (バイオハザード4 Baiohazādo Fō?), is a third-person survival horror video game developed and published by Capcom, originally released for the GameCube in 2005. It is the sixth main game of the Resident Evil franchise.

The story follows Special Agent Leon S. Kennedy, who is sent on a mission to rescue the daughter of the President of the United States, Ashley Graham, who has been kidnapped by a religious cult in a rural part of Spain. Leon battles hordes of enemies infected by a mind-controlling parasite and reunites with spy Ada Wong. Moving away from the fixed camera angles and slower gameplay style of previous titles, Resident Evil 4 features a dynamic camera system and action-oriented gameplay.

Planned since December 1999, the game underwent a lengthy development process, during which four versions were scrapped. Initially developed for the PlayStation 2, the first production was directed by Hideki Kamiya after producer Shinji Mikami asked him to create a new title for the Resident Evil series; however, as the latter felt the project had strayed too far from its roots, it was spun off into a new game called Devil May Cry on his recommendation. Other versions were scrapped until Mikami took over as director for what became the final product. The game was intended to be a GameCube exclusive as part of the Capcom Five, but a PlayStation 2 port was announced even before release. Later, it was also released for Windows, Wii, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Nintendo Switch, as well as receiving reduced versions for iOS, Zeebo and Android and had a virtual reality version for the Oculus Quest 2.

Resident Evil 4 received critical acclaim. It won many Game of the Year awards in 2005 and was seen as a cross-platform success that influenced the evolution of the survival horror and third-person shooter genres. The game also pioneered and popularized the third-person "over-the-shoulder" perspective. Since then, it has been widely considered one of the greatest games of all time. A recreation of the same name was released in March 2023.
