So, Ponte de Lima has a seriously cool history. It was founded in 1125 by Teresa of Leon, the Countess of Portugal, who wanted to create a bustling town in the area. And she totally succeeded! The town is named after the iconic bridge that spans the Lima river, which was built in the 14th century and is still standing strong today.

As the Middle Ages progressed, Ponte de Lima became a major commercial center, with merchants coming from all over to trade goods. The town was a hub of activity, with many wealthy families building grand mansions and palaces in the town center. Talk about ballin'!

And let's talk about Ponte de Lima's toughness. In the 16th century, the town was heavily fortified, with walls, towers, and a castle built to protect it from invasions. Although the castle was later destroyed during the French Invasions in the 19th century, the walls and towers still stand today, and they make for a seriously epic Instagram photo!
