Matthew Chapter 3

Matthew 3:3 refers to Isaiah 40:3
The voice of him that crieth in the wilderness, Prepare ye the way of the LORD, make straight in the desert a highway for our God.

Saducees – sect of Jews who deny resurrection, the existence of spirits and the obligation of oral tradition while holding strict to the written laws.

Pharisees – sect of Jews who strictly observed rites, ceremonies and traditions of elders and who considered themselves more righteous than other Jews

Meet – fit; suitable; proper; qualified

Suffer - To allow; to permit; not to forbid or hinder.
