Daniel Penny was charged with second degree manslaughter, the Manhattan district attorney's office stated this week of May 2023. Jordan Neely, a 30-year-old former Michael Jackson impersonator who was homeless, died after being put in a chokehold by Penny earlier this May 2023. Daniel Penny was released on bail after being charged with only manslaughter.
