Performing stand-up is like a drug. It gives you a lot of dopamine very quickly like certain stimulants. The effects are diminishing and soon you have to do more and more to get the same effects. If it goes bad, it's like withdrawing from an intoxicant. You'll immediately need to do another set to get back the lost dopamine.
